Max, her pedigreed golden retriever has gone all ‘Call of the Wild’ in the dense mountain forest. Hayley could have celebrated typing The End to her novel curled up on the sofa with a bottle of champagne. But nooooo. It’s spring and she’s been promising Max a long hike in the mountain for the past month.
Max leads her on a long trail, becoming lost deep in the forest. What started out as an afternoon jaunt becomes a search in the woods at nightfall. Just in time for a rainstorm to move in.

Jason never expected to meet anyone that rainy spring evening.

His art studio and home was far, far off any hiking trails. He was out searching for a burl on a fallen tree trunk he saw a few days earlier. That knotty remnant would complete his latest sculpture. Talented and eccentric artist that he is, he always obeyed inspiration when it hit, no matter the weather.


Instead he stumbles upon the woman of his dreams. She’s like an angel who fell out of the sky. But of course, she’s spooked. Who wouldn’t be when guy over six feet tall, carrying an ax suddenly shows up?


With the road washed out from the deluge, Hayley has no choice but shelter in his home.
